Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

Name: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

Overall Rank: #3

Position (Rank): Small Forward (#1)

College: Kentucky

High School: St. Patrick (New Jersey)

Height: 6’7

Weight: 210

Evaluation: Gilchrist is one the top players in the class of 2011  not because of his talent or physical abilities but because of his leadership abilities and work ethic. He never takes a possession off and is an impact player in every aspect of the game. Gilchrist defends and rebounds the ball very well and his strength and competitive drive makes him a consistent force on both ends of the court. He is also a great slasher, has the ability to create his own shot and is a good finisher around the bucket. Gilchrist can post guys up down low as well which makes him dangerous. He has improved on his perimeter shooting too which forces you to guard him even a few feet beyond the three-point line. Gilchrist is simply a player who is very hardworking and will do what it takes to win each game. He has a high motor and plays very well in the transition game. He is also a physical player who finishes through contact well. Gilchrist is very versatile too which allows him to guard various positions on the floor and has good enough ball-handling skills to where he can bring the ball up the floor. He applies great pressure on the perimeter on defense and can guard the post again power forwards as well. Look for him to be a big-time player for the Wildcats next year.
