Overall Rank: #50
Position (Rank): Small Forward (#15)
College: St. John’s
High School: South Kent (New York)
Evaluation: Harkless is a similar prospect to Jakarr Sampson, another St. John’s small forward recruit, in that he is an athletic slasher who plays well in transition. However, unlike Sampson, Harkless is a better outside shooter and has a better mid-range game. Harkless also has a lot of potential and has good speed and is solid defensively, although he has a bad tendency to take some plays off which he can’t do in college. Like a lot of other high school prospects, he needs to improve on his strength as well as his ball-handling. His rebounding could use some work too but he is a good addition to the Red Storm’s recruiting class which is one of the best in the country.
