Editor’s Note: In an earlier edition of this article, McCullough said that Connecticut was his dream school and that he didn’t have an offer from them. He now rejects that he said that and says they aren’t his dream school and that he does have an offer from them. The article is updated to reflect this change.
Class of 2014 power forward Chris McCullough has offers from some of the top programs in the country including Connecticut, Pittsburgh and Louisville and he’s looking to commit this summer, but he insists that no one is standing out to him yet.
“No one is standing out,” McCullough told NRS, “I don’t have any leaders right now.”
Although the New York native is yet to identify any leaders right now in his recruitment, he’s received a lot of interest from many schools across the country. McCullough lists offers from North Carolina, Arizona, West Virginia, Hofstra, St John’s, Cincinnati, Villanova, Iowa State, Penn State, Temple and VCU, in addition to the aforementioned schools.
However, he does know what he’s looking for in his potential school.
“I’m looking for playing time as a freshman and want a school with a good graduation rate,” McCullough said. “I want an up-tempo, fast-pace team that uses the pick and roll.”
According to McCullough, Connecticut and Syracuse fit that description the best. He’s also visited both programs in addition to St. John’s, Iowa State, Providence, Rutgers and Seton Hall.
He currently has no other visits planned out but is looking to get to one school in particular. “I’m supposed to visit Memphis soon,” McCullough said. “I think I’ll fit into their system and I want to see what it’s like out there. I’m not sure the date because my coach has to set it up.”
The Salisbury School (Connecticut) attendee says that he’s looking to make a decision after he finishes his AAU season with Team Scan.
