Well I know I told you guys a couple weeks back that I was gearing up for the AAU Super Showcase and nationals in Orlando and it was a long week for me. My team we went 0-3 in the showcase but went 7-2 in the nationals. I played really well in the nationals but got hurt in pool play when I sprained my ankle and had to miss a couple games. I was kind of mad because one of the games I missed was when we played Texas Pro, who won the showcase. I missed two games and was able to play against Rashard Lewis’ team and we won that game. I played well, too.
Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Miami (FL), Florida, Kansas, Memphis, Providence, Wake Forest, Ole Miss and Arkansas were all in the stands to watch me in Florida so that was good. I’ve also talked to Kansas, Georgia Tech – [head] coach [Brian] Gregory actually offered me, North Carolina called my high school coach, Missouri, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Alabama and Clemson recently.
I got home a couple days ago and have been in the gym working on my game since then. I plan on going to Kansas’ Midnight Madness with [class of 2013 shooting guard] Brannen Greene. I’m real excited to go visit the school and meet the whole staff and players. If I didn’t go to Kansas’ Midnight Madness, I would have gone to UConn’s or Memphis’, it was out of those three. I have some schools I’m thinking about visiting but I’m going to wait until school starts to begin taking those.
If I had to choose right now, I would take my five official visits to North Carolina, Memphis, Kansas, Arizona and Ohio State in no particular order. The five schools I take my official visits to during the school year will make up my final list. Right now, I’m definitely going to take a look at Memphis and Arizona and I already have my Kansas visit set up. North Carolina has been talking to my high school coach a lot recently too and [head coach] Roy Williams said they’re going to make me a priority so they’ve been starting to creep up in my recruitment. I start school in September and I’m going to cut my list and start planning my official visits then.
Right now, Kansas is at the top of my list and [assistant] coach [Joe] Dooley is doing a great job of recruiting me. He calls me and my Dad a lot just to check up on me and e-mails me and hits me up on Facebook. He’s also been to all my games this summer and has been all over my recruitment. He told me I was his priority and [head] coach [Bill] Self said they’re excited for me to head down. They tell me how I fit into their system, what other guys they’re recruiting, how I can come in and contribute and I like how they tell me everything straight up, they aren’t lying to me and they’re honest.
I thought you guys would also want to know that they told me the other guards they’re recruiting. That includes Brannen, Allerik Freeman, Conner Frankamp, the Harrison twins and Chris Thomas.
I also want to announce that my live chat with Brannen Greene is this Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. (EST)! You can start sending in questions early to firstname.lastname@example.org for me and Brannen. Hope you guys ask some good questions.
Well, that’s all for this edition. Thanks for reading my player blog and remember, God first!
