Ochefu ends it

#21 overall prospect Daniel Ochefu committed to Villanova yesterday over Georgetown, Temple, and Texas, giving the Wildcats one of the top 2012 classes as they already have two top-30 signees in small forward Savon Goodman and point guard Ryan Arcidiacono. “I really liked Coach Wright and his staff,” says Ochefu, “also the fact that it is close to my family. A lot of my friends [are going there too] and the recruiting classes they have coming in the next couple of years is great.” However, it was not an easy decision for him to make. “It was the toughest decision I ever made,” Ochefu adds, “all the schools I was looking at are great places.”

In a class loaded with big men, Ochefu is one of the top center prospects and will make an immediate impact for the Wildcats. A scholarship opened up with the departure of Dominic Cheek, but Ochefu denies that had any involvement in his decision. “No, that had nothing to do with it,” says Ochefu. “My parents and coaches thought it would be good to get it done so that I can start focusing on becoming a better player more.” Ochefu addresses one of Jay Wright’s needs as Villanova is known for being guard heavy, and he is a true post-player and will be an inside force.
