After re-visiting the top-50, a few guys were very close to making it in, and it was decided that even though they aren’t in the top-50 they deserve some recognition. So here are a few guys who just missed the cut and could make their way in before the final rankings.
- Sheldon McClellan (Texas)- McClellan is a great athlete who has great size for the two guard at 6’5”. He is a very good slasher who is also a great finisher once he gets into the lane. He is also excellent in transition and has a respectable perimeter shot. McClellan is a solid ball-handler and defender as well. He needs to improve his outside shooting, rebounding, and presence in general since he can disappear for stretches in a game. Expect to hear his name in a few years when he’s an impact player for the Longhorns.
- Michael Chandler (UCF)- Chandler runs the floor well and has a nice short-jumper. He is in general a good low-block scorer and rebounder. He is also a good shot-blocker and is tough and physical despite his 225 lbs. frame. He has the potential to become a better rebounder as well as a better low-block scorer. Expect Chandler to start from day one for Central Florida and to make an impact as a underclassman.
- Chris Jones (Tennessee)- Jones is a big-time scorer who can score in a plethora of ways. He is a great shooter who loves to attack the bucket and get shots up that others his size (5’10”) have difficulty doing. He can also knock down shots from anywhere on the floor whether it’s a deep three, corner jumper, or pull-up shot. However, he needs to work on becoming more of a facilitator at the point and not just a scorer. Expect him to fill up the stat sheet as he develops at Knoxville but becoming a better distributor will take his game to the next level.
