NCAA strikes again

The NCAA placed the University of California’s basketball team on two years’ probation due to making hundreds of impermissible recruiting phone calls. The university already self-imposed penalties in 2008 after they reported that 365 illegal phone calls were made. Head coach Mike Montgomery made few of these calls with one unidentified assistant making over 200 calls and another making over 100. The only other penalties imposed on Cal is limiting them to five official paid visits in the next two years and requiring Montgomery and two assistants to attend an NCAA rules seminar.
