Auburn picks up first 2012 committment

Small forward Shaquille Johnson chose the Tigers, a young team with no seniors, giving them their first 2012 prospect. He is an extremely athletic wing player who finishes well through contact and has potential to be a great defender due to his athleticism. He also rebounds well and can contest shots making it hard for shooters to get off a good shot. It will be interesting to see how much playing time he gets next year since Auburn doesn’t lose anybody, but when you have a player with great physical gifts and potential you need to find a way to work him into the lineup. His style of play is comparable to Elliot Williams, in the sense that he is an athletic wing player who could improve on his perimeter shooting. They are also nearly identical in height, weight, and strength, as well.
