Evaluation: Pointer is a great athlete who excels in transition and finishes well once he gets to the basket. He is a tough, versatile player who can guard multiple positions on the perimeter. He is also a good slasher and is dangerous because he has the ability to not just finish with a dunk but pull up and hit a mid-range jumper. He is a threat on the offensive boards where he can make momentum-changing put-back dunks as well. His perimeter shooting could use some improvement too but it’s respectable enough to keep defenders honest. He needs to improve most on his ball-handling so he can get that much better when he’s slashing to the hoop.
