The 2012 Nike Global Challenge will be held in Washington, D.C. this year July 13-15 featuring the best talent in the world. As always, NRS will be live-tweeting this event so be sure to follow @JoshPaunilNRS Friday and Sunday for minute-by-minute updates. Also check the website Saturday morning and Sunday night for full recaps of days one and three that feature game recaps, player evaluations, pictures, recruiting notes and more. Here’s some information from the Nike Global Challenge website itself:
In conjunction with the World Basketball Festival 2.0, the 2012 Nike Global Challenge will be held in the nation’s capital July 13 – 15 at Episcopal High School and the Armory in Washington, D.C.
This 8-team, 16-game tournament features the top high school and U-19 basketball players from the best International Teams in the World and is played under FIBA rules just like the Olympic Games that will be held later this summer in London. For the US Participants, the Nike Global Challenge is a key component in Nike’s summer series of Skills Academies. In June, these players will be invited to participate in positional skills camps in Chicago hosted by several NBA superstars including Deron Williams (PG’s), Kevin Durant (Wings) and Amar’e Stoudemire (Big Men). They then travel to Las Vegas, NV to participate in the LeBron James US Skills Academy. The top 30 players from the spring and summer circuits will make up the three regional teams to represent the United States in the Nike Global Challenge.
The International teams will be represented by Brasil, Canada, China, Lithuania and Puerto Rico. Brasil, Canada, China and Puerto Rico are being represented by the top Under-19 players from each country, while Lithuania will be represented by their top U-18 National Team that is preparing for U-18 FIBA European Championships.

As you’d expect, the three USA teams are three of the most talented rosters in the event and the only team who has a legitimate shot at beating one of these American squads is the Canadian team that features class of 2013 point guard Tyler Ennis, class of 2013 shooting guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes and class of 2014 star small forward Andrew Wiggins, among others.
