The Blue Devils reeled in a big fish today as small forward Alex Murphy (2012) chose Duke over Arizona, Florida, Kansas, and North Carolina. A player that reminds you of Kyle Singler, Murphy is a combo forward who can play either the three or the four and causes match-up problems at both positions. He is a very good slasher with a good mid-range game and three-point shot. He is also solid defensively and can handle the ball well too. He fills one of Duke’s biggest needs which is a big forward who can score and drive well with Kyle Singler leaving and the rest of their wing players being outside shooters. If he could develop to be a better rebounder he could really help the Blue Devils since that is another significant need of theirs. The bottom line for Murphy is that he is an athletic, versatile slasher who is a big-time scorer and can get the ball in hoop in a variety of ways.
